Well this was a very well known issue as the title explains but in my case, the "updating inbox 3.99GB" keeps on repeating to the same state. No new mail activities or even download progress on Inbox, but the other folders at least updating upon selecting.hen using Microsoft Outlook client to access Exchange mailboxes and Inbox, the Outlook does not actually update the all mailboxes and Inbox folder. The content and emails in the mailboxes are not refreshed, i.e.
When it is not, it usually is synching additional mailbox information and data such as the folder hierarchy, Views or Quick Steps.
When you start Microsoft Outlook, the program automatically downloads new messages from the server associated with your email account. Selecting the "Send/Receive All Folders" option on the Send/Recieve tab instructs Outlook to download new data from the server, but clicking the command each time to refresh the inbox can be inconvenient and not possible when away from your desk.
Furthermore, if you forget to instruct Outlook to retrieve new emails, you could miss out on time-sensitive messages from clients, employees or other business-related contacts.
Try one of the following suggestions to fix the issue.
Resolution 1: Clear Offline Items Most Exchange account configured in Outloook has Cached Exchange Mode enabled by default to allow user to continue working with Outlook when offline in addition to improve the performance.
